Meet the Team

Sarah Graham

Heading up Sales and Customer Service, Sarah is our single speed fairly fair weather commuter and team Arragons trick cyclist!

She has taken part in local triathlons for years.  Sarah completed Lanzarote Ironman in 2009 and in 2011 raced Ironman Austria in a time of 11 hours 27 minutes.

Her greatest achievement is cycling 315 miles with Docker Reid and Graeme Higgins - from the Special Care Baby Unit in Carlisle to Dockers' old Barracks in Windsor for the baby unit and The Operational Casualties Fund... non stop.  The challenge for 2013 is to take part in Wasdale 1/2 Ironman which has been dubbed the most difficult 1/2 distance course in the.... World!  Watch this space for training updates.  This event is a swim in coldest, deepest Wastwater, a 56 mile cycle taking in Hardknott and Wyrnose passes both ways and a run up Scarfell pike.

Sarah is the main point of contact for most customers; she has little technical expertise but as such, is able to talk plain English about the bikes on display! Our product range is tested by staff so the knowledge is first hand. Sarah can break down the jargon and tier a range of bikes suitable for your demands.

Phil Graham

With a First Class Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and the highest qualification in the cycle industry under his belt, Phil is the main man in the shop and has both the skill and ingenuity for any cycling repair.

After applying through Shimano, Phil made the cut and was selected as one of a team of only 6 independent mechanics to work at the 2012 London Olympics.  For the first week of the games, Phil was part of the Shimano Neutral Support team.  He gained tremendous experience and worked first hand at both the Road Race and Time Trial events.

Since the end of this Summer and because we have two of the best mechanics in our team, we have pulled him out of the workshop full time so now he splits his day helping with customer service and advising on repairs.

Phil is a keen sportsman with a background in professional rugby but after 3 broken legs, he now spends his free time in the fells or trawling the roads with the Arragons Cycling posse.  Phil and the gang completed Lands End to John O'Groats in a week in 2011, completed Ironman Lanzarote 2012 with three of his mates and is planning to take part in all of the local TriHard events for 2013 including Day in the Lakes 1/2 Iron Distance Triathlon.

If you want technical info, talk to Phil!

Andrew Perrott

The newest member of our team but with a wealth of 13 years experience in the cycle industry - Andrew has Cytech 1, 2 and 3 as well as achieving certificates in advanced suspension and specialist hydraulic braking systems.  Andrew is in the process of completing his NVQ Level 3 Cycle Mechanic certificate.  Having relocated to Cumbria, he is enjoying exploring the Eden Valley and tackling the finest hills around on his road bike as well as travelling around on his Scott Scale to a number of Enduro events.  Talk to Andrew about anything specialist.

Richard Bickley

A qualified Cytech 2 cycle mechanic Richard is a key member of our Service Centre team.  He is currently in the process of completing NVQ Level 3 Cycle Mecanic.

An avid Border City Wheeler, Richard is an accomplished road cyclist both racing and time trial. Needless to say he is most at home tuning up a road cycle but he will happily turn his hand to any model and type of bike.

Rich has had a brilliant 2011 season, achieving several PBs including completing a 50 mile time trial in 1 hour 52, riding a 20 minute 10 miles on the Crown Circuit and riding to victory in the Smithfields Road Race which is part of the CDNW league.  Rich has now gained status as a Category 2 rider.

Here's Richard taking part in a road race - in the lead!  Thanks to Emma Felton for allowing us to use one of her brilliant action shots.

Lucy Arragon

As a mum, Lucy has experience in child balance and coordination so can talk customer through our range of children's Ridgeback bikes.  She also takes care of clothing, accessories and organising customer orders.

She is gaining a lot of knowledge of cycling and we think, quite fancies having a bash at taking up cycling herself, especially as her daughter Katy is off on two wheels! We managed to kit her out with a hybrid so watch this space as her love of cycling grows!

Whilst at the moment, she might not class herself as a cyclist, she's most certainly fast becoming the fashionisa of cycling clothing!  Ask Lucy if you want to be kitted out in the best way, she has spent a lot of time researching the clothing market, picking out pieces from a variety of brands.  We have split our clothing offering in to three sections to meet the requirements of most cyclists.  The best way to see our stock on display, have a chance to try it on and hopefully we will be able to have you cycling more comfortably than ever before.

Ben Hill

The final piece of our weekend jigsaw, Ben helps out in the workshop on a Saturday as he has another career during the week.  Keen to keep his mechanical hands in practice, Ben is an encyclopedia of all things cycling and is very much an important part of our team.

Talk to Ben about anything.
