Meet the team
- Phil Graham Owner / Mechanic
A Mechanical Engineer by trade, Phil has a 1st Class Honours degree & is Cytech trained to the highest level. Phil is an accomplished Rugby Union player who gained the coveted Oxford Blue while at University, before representing England and the Barbarians. His career was cut short due to injury but having always cycled for fitness, Triathlon became his next bug.
Since taking on Arragon's Cycles with wife Sarah, Phil has enjoyed a number of 'jollies' as an esteemed Cycle Mechanic. He was part of the Neutral Services Mechanic team at the London 2012 Olympic Games, he has been Mechanic for the World Record Breaking 8 Man Team in the 2013 Race Across America, a World Record Breaking 8 man team in the 2017 Race Across Europe and a team of Army Vets completing Race Around Ireland. He has ambition to lead an Arragon's Cycles Team in the race in the future.
As well as taking part in Triathlons and Sportives such as Fred Whitton, Phil is a mountain biker. He recently took part in the coveted Ard Rock Endurance weekend and looks forward to having another crack in August this year.
Phil is a trouble shooter, having completed all the Shimano Tec training courses, he is where everyone comes to when there is a non standard or specialist query from eBike software to programming Di2.
- Sarah Graham Owner / Store Manager
Sarah started her career in the bike shop as a Saturday girl a hundred years' ago! After a career in Public Relations in London, the call to home came after she met Phil. Together, they took over Arragon's Cycles in Autumn 2003 and the rest, they say, is history!
She has a great passion for making sure all customers receive great service from product advice, to the care taken by mechanics when bikes go through our Shimano Service Centre. She has built her team to make sure that advice, sales & aftercare is paramount. We are a team and we all represent the same values; our aim is to make sure all our customers are happy ones!
With a particular interest in road and leisure cycling, Sarah has completed Ironman Triathlon since 2009, mingled in with many challenges including a non stop 325 mile road cycle from Carlisle to Windsor which she still claims as the most challenging yet!
Sarah rides regularly with customers and friends in several weekly cycles from the shop. She holds her single speed fixie as one of her prize possessions & is an absolute convert to hydraulic discs on road bike - her Scott Addict RC
- Chris Nicholson Pro Bike Fit / Specialist Sales
Chris first joined Arragons Cycles as a Saturday Assistant when he was just 16. Since the beginning, he's been a valued member of the team due to his passion for the sport & work ethos. He continued to help out whilst at University in Newcastle and once qualified, joined the team full time.
Chris has a desire to get every cyclist set up properly on their bikes both for aesthetics & aerodynamics. He took this passion further by attending intensive training with Bike Fit expert John Dennis at Physiohaus. That was back in 2016 and since then we have created a Bike Fit Studio from where Chris can carry out professional bike fit. Now with experience in this specialist field, he has a growing collection of testimonials from some serious elite athletes both in time trial, road race and the triathlon scene, as well as those who just want to be more comfortable.
Although Chris enjoys mountain biking, his love is for road cycling putting in miles throughout the Eden Valley but he's most happy in riding Sa Calobra in Mallorca.
Bikes: Scott Foil, Ridley X-Trail and Genesis Equilibrium. Sa Calobra PB 32:46
- Norbert Bartkowiak Cycle Mechanic
Norbert joined the team early 2016 with a Cytech Level 2 Qualification. He previously ran a small mobile cycle repair business for several years. Since joining us, he's obtained his Cytech Level 3 Suspension Qualification as well as a great wealth of experience from the variety of bikes that visit our store.
Norbert is our tidy one, with an incredible patience for the most intricate of jobs. He is fully Shimano TEC accredited and has a particular interest in Di2 set up.
He is passionate about bikes, using a Genesis Equilibrium for commuting & a Scott Genius for the mountains. Being a self confessed 'gamer' he has a good knowledge about PC hardware, which is handy as our industry develops from ebikes & Di2.
- Isaac Rimmer Apprentice Cycle Mechanic & Cycle Hire Team Member
Isaac came to Arragons Cycles for work experience during the Summer of 2022 and joined the weekend team straight after. He crosses between helping at the shop and organising cycle hire from our sister business at Lowther Castle.
Having graduated Kendal College with Level 3 Sport, he now takes the role of Trainee Bike Mechanic through industry leading Cytech Apprenticeship Scheme. Isaac has shown a real interest in the technical side of the business over the past two years so has been carefully learning his trade under the watchful eyes of Phil and Norbert.
Isaac uses his bike to commute to work as well as to keep fit for rugby where he plays Rugby Union for Penrith.
