We were asked to join this year's Penrith Sparkle parade so me and my trusty Tuesday Ladies were happy to oblige as we littered our bikes with fairy lights and dressed up as Father Christmas / Elves to join the beautifully lit Tracker, Wagon & Winter Droving torchlit parade. There was music, dancing, singing and general festive joy from the North to Southend of Penrith!
The delightful event was put on by Penrith BID along with Annabel Candler who has a real pull to the tradition of Penrith and has followed in her Mum's footsteps of event organising and promotion, you could say a family tradition. It was a treat to see so many people turn out and it got me thinking, if those same people spent £5 a week in one of our many town centre independent stores, it would ensure Penrith not only survives, but thrives in these difficult trading times. Here's hoping all the gorgeously decorated Christmas Windows packed with gift ideas and general loveliness will encourage people to support Penrith in their spending.
Now, who's in to join me and the rest of the Tuesday Ladies in next year's parade?
